Did You Know?

I see it as a public service of mine to pass along little tidbits of information that make my life even a little bit easier in hopes that it can do the same for you.  Especially you girls out there, moms or not, married or single, old or young.  Sometimes sisters just need to help each other out.  It's always better to get a little advice than to have to figure it all out on your own.  So, that being said....

Did you know:

1. Most of my mornings I feel like I look like this as I head to work:

Anything I can do to save just a few seconds is invaluable.  I do lots of things to make my mornings smoother, like making lunches and picking out clothes at night, embracing the wonder that is "2 day hair" and accepting that some days, I'm just gonna have hairy legs. The most amazing time saver in the morning that I have discovered lately is to keep your lotion in the shower.  IN the shower.  Now this might be something you already do, but to me it's a new revelation from my TX mamma Leslee.  I mean think about it.  Half the time I don't use lotion because either A. I am too freaking cold when I get out of the shower to even think for a second of not instantly getting dressed, or B. I am running late and don't have time to wait for the lotion to absorb before putting on my clothes (because let's be real....putting on a long sleeved shirt or jeans when you're still tacky from your lotion is like trying to get yourself out of a Chinese finger trap).  So basically I only put lotion on after my shower if I am having a hot flash or if pigs happen to be flying and I'm not running late that day.  But girls if you keep it IN the shower, you can put it on right after you towel off, when you're still trapped in there with all the heat you made while you washed.  AND it absorbs sooooo well because your pores are so open from the heat WHICH means you use so much less lotion.  So basically I'm saving you time and money here.  And even better, it soaks in so quick with those open pores that you can get dressed without feeling like you're trapping yourself into your clothes.

2.  I am the healthiest I have been in years.  Probably decades.  Maybe my entire life.  How do you ask?  What's the secret.  Welllll, the secret is that I eat right and.......get ready for it.......I take my vitamins!  Do I exercise?  No, not yet, but I'm working on it.  So here's a little about my eating history:

  • I LOVE fast food and Diet Coke.
  • Eating out is one of my favorite pass times.  Like many of us, anything social I do usually revolves around eating or drinking something.
  • I hate leaving leftovers on my plate at a restaurant.  I feel like it's a waste of money so unless it tastes toxic, I will finish it.
  • Pizza is my favorite food and I adore sweets and anything crunchy.
  • I love good quality beer.  Ya know, the high calorie, dark kind.
  • I have always eaten relatively healthy, but ate huge portions.  I kinda prided myself in it.  I could order a burrito the size of my laptop and finish it in one sitting.  No lie.
  • I NEVER drank water.  From morning till night I would have coffee, Diet Coke, and then wine.  The water I got each day was the amount I might swallow while I brushed my teeth.

I've developed some GI issues that were diagnosed back in August, and I was put on a super restrictive diet to control them.  It cuts out all sugar, caffeine, many carbs, all red meat and pork, soy, some fruits, anything artificial, and most types of alcohol.  Gah I know right??  That's like everything.  So what can I eat you ask??  Basically only salad, flatbread, chicken, fish, nuts and dairy products.  For a girl who lived like I listed above, it was a literal mourning process to give it up and start to eat clean.  I'm on Omega 3 supplements, Superwoman quality multivitamins, and a liquid mineral supplement.  And, can I just say, I feel AH-MAZING.  All that hype about eating right and taking your vitamins making you fell like a million bucks.....it's not hype!!  All those people were telling the truth!  I don't miss the caffeine at all, and my pallete has changed in a way that makes me not even really miss the things I used to eat.  My GI problems are mostly under control I feel so so good.  So my girls, it's not all hype.  It's for real.  Eat clean and you'll feel that way.  :)

3.  If you have any aches or pains, reoccuring or otherwise:  this stuff is amazing.  I have neck and jaw problems from the accident and orthodontic work, and they hurt almost constantly.  I have regular headaches because of how my jaw and neck hurt.  But this stuff is a lifesaver.  My mamma sent it to me a couple of weeks ago and I use it every day.  It truly relaxes the muscles and doesn't just mask the pain.  My chiropractor has even noticed the difference in my muscles since I started using it.  So getchasome.

4. For moms of little kids:  I know it's a novel idea, but one of the things that has helped me so much lately is that I have given my kids responsibilities.  GASP!!  I know, right? Real, big kid responsibilities.  Making lunches, putting away their laundry, cleaning their upstairs space.  It helps me out but also helps them take pride in their things and feel accountable.  It keeps their behavior under control as well because they have things they need to be doing instead of goofing off.

The kids today making their own lunch:

5.  "Sassy spray."  Vinegar in a little spray bottle.  Moms, when those sweet little angels talk back to you or are rude to eachother or don't do what you ask, two sprays is all it takes.  Make them close their mouths and swallow it, and carry it in your purse.  I haven't found anything that workes better, and I've tried it ALL.  I mean it all.

Now, please make sure you share the love.  If you have any tidbits to make my life easier, send em my way.  :)
